Poster surviving from the 1978 Arcosanti Festival, "Art in the Environment", a desert gathering full of infamous hippie and artist lore featuring a mind bending lineup of some of the most brilliant artists, craftsmen, and musicians of the 20th century.
Notable names of the festival include Anthony Braxton, Richie Havens, Ottie Pienne, Tal Streeter, Peter Blake, Todd Rundgren, Ronee Blakley among many others. Highly recommend giving all these names a once-over yourself.
Accompanied by photos scoured from the internet of the 1978 festival. Including an image of the brush fire that engulfed hundreds of vehicles in the parking lot. According to attendees, there was also an active shooter during Rundgren's set that was subdued before any injuries occurred.
More beautifully, Rockne Krebs' lasers were beamed and reflected from surrounding mountaintops throughout the festival giving the illustration on the poster a vivid reality.
A surviving example of the incredible cultural apex of Arcosanti beyond Soleri himself.
